Before You Die,write your autobiography or memoir.

If dead people could listen to some of the things we read or write about them during their funeral service, some of them will rip off our eulogies and their biographies.

During my dad’s funeral, I did my best to capture a brief history of his life on earth in a polished biography. It took me over two weeks to craft it, and to rehearse it with my brothers and mother for approval before publication.

After reading his biography in church, I still got feedback from people telling me I shouldn’t have said this or that about him. I should have said so and so …bla bla bla….

I’m also 100% sure that if my dad of blessed memory had listened to his own biography, he would have called me to a hidden corner and say something like:

“Son! That thing you wrote about me is incorrect or incomplete.”

Then, I would have responded to him:

“Dad! You should have written your own story and kept it before you die.”

That’s what I’m about to share with you today:

Can you please make an effort to document your own story before you die???

When someone writes about you when you’re long dead, that’s a biography. But when you share your story to the world, that’s an autobiography.

If you add an emotional connection to a part of your life experiences, that becomes a memoir.

Sharing your story helps you to:

  • Shine the light to others as a mentor.
  • Protect the history of your family by speaking directly to your descendants.
  • Opening yourself to moments of failures and struggles genuinely gratifies your own soul as a person.
  • Reaffirm your values and position about certain issues. Imagine you were an activist and stood firmly for a cause. If you die, your memoir can take your cause to the end.
  • Remember the lessons you learned in life.
  • Gives meaning to your life.

A friend recently revealed to me how he wept after reading his own story. It was gratifying to his soul and brought a lot of healing to his self-being. He told me his children we live to remember him from these life experiences.

No one can tell your story better than you do.

Several times I’ve reiterated to people that you don’t need to be a writer to be an author. You don’t also need a huge budget to write a book. Ghostwriters can accomplish the task for you.

If I have convinced you to write your autobiography, connect with me here, let’s begin the journey to your lasting legacy!
